WHO WE ARE

The Grange is a family-oriented, community-based fraternal organization, with emphasis on the welfare of its members and activities that benefit the community as a whole.

Membership in the Grange is open to all individuals from age 13 up. Current annual membership dues are $20.00

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Squam Lake Grange was organized in 1897 and has been an active part of the community for over 100 years. During that time, many community projects have been initiated or supported by the Grange. Tree plantings, roadside cleanups, site beautifications, community and patriotic support; public entertainment programs and public discussion forums, financial and physical support for many community projects, and participation in community celebrations are some of the ways the Grange has remained involved in the community.

In recent years the Grange has supported projects including the preservation of the old Elementary School building, restoration of the Civil War monument, restoration of the Railroad Station by the Historical Society, support for the Community Closet and Food Pantry and support for local independent activities to enhance the welfare of the community.

Starting with the 2002-2003 school year the Grange initiated a five-year sponsorship of the Dictionary Project for the Elementary School. In cooperation with Meredith Village Savings Bank and Pemigewasset Valley Pomona, we have committed to providing each third grade student with their own grade-appropriate paperback dictionary. You can learn more about this national project at www.thedictionaryproject.org.

The Community Council of Ashland is the direct result of an effort by members to learn more about other community groups and their participation in community affairs. We are pleased that there has been a warm reception to this effort to provide a common voice for local non-profit groups.
